
CRICKET PNG has won the award for “Best Overall Cricket Development Programme” due to their strong organisational structure which has allowed them to effectively implement their cricket development programme.
With an active, competent board and a working staff of over 80 employees, Cricket PNG enjoyed an exciting 2013.
During the year, their BSP School Kriket Programme grew to 171,578, a growth in participants of 36% from 2012.
There has also been a considerable increase in junior cricketers participating in regular competitions with 2595 junior players, 405 more regular players than in 2012.
This continued growth is a result of the hard work, commitment and stability of the Cricket PNG administration.
Vanuatu took out the category of “Best Junior Participation Initiative” for their Cricket Ambassadors Programme which has had a particular focus on transitioning young cricketers from softball to hardball cricket.
The Cook Islands have taken out “Best Women’s Cricket Initiative” for the continued growth they have seen in Women’s Cricket.
The “Best Spirit of Cricket Initiative” has been won by Cricket Fiji for their Inclusive Cricket Programme.
The ICC Development Programme Awards were established to recognise exceptional performance and service to the game of cricket in all Associate and Affiliate member countries.
It aims to recognise these contributions among all levels of cricket development.
