The SP PNG Hunters have announced that Judah Rimbu, player #92, has been named the 2024 QRL Hostplus Cup Player of the Year. As the Hunters' first-choice hooker, Rimbu has been a key contributor in the club's 2024 finals campaign. His standout form throughout the season came as no surprise to those familiar with his journey. Over 23 games this season, Rimbu scored 16 tries, ranking fourth in the QRL, and assisted in five others, cementing his position as one of the competition’s top attacking players.
In addition to his offensive contributions, Rimbu averaged 82 running metres per game and recorded 91 tackle busts, placing him fourth in the QRL. His defensive efforts were equally impressive, with a total of 726 tackles made at a 94% efficiency rate.
SP PNG Hunters CEO Scott Barker expressed his pride in Rimbu’s achievement. "On behalf of the SP PNG Hunters, I’d like to congratulate Judah on his outstanding 2024 campaign," Barker said. "While the Hunters' success this year has been a whole-club effort, Judah has been pivotal to that success, and we’re pleased to see him recognized today."
