THE Papua New Guinea Football Association has appointed Warren Moon as head coach of the men’s national football team in a short-term arrangement to lead the team to the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands.
Apart from his role with the team in the Pacific Games, Moon will be assisting PNGFA in creating a national development programme within his three-month contract with the association.
Moon is an experienced football coach, bringing in a wealth of knowledge from his previous roles which include three years as head coach of the Brisbane Roar, Lions FC and general manager of the Brisbane Roar Football Academy.

PNGFA president John Kapi Natto said Moon’s appointment was an important step in their journey to strengthen and develop football in the country.
“His experience and knowledge will undoubtedly benefit our national team as they prepare for the Pacific Games, and his contributions to creating a national development programme will leave a lasting impact on our football community,” Kapi Natto said during the announcement.
“With the Pacific Games just around the corner, Moon’s leadership and expertise will be instrumental in guiding the team to success.
“The Papua New Guinea Football Association is excited to see what the future holds under Warren Moon’s leadership, both on the field in the Pacific Games and off the field through the development programme.”
